Practice Self-Care
In a nutshell...I wasn't living the life I wanted. I wasn't happy.
How about this for a complete OXYMORON…
STRESSED OUT YOGA TEACHER!
I'm wired to worry, and I guess you could say I have some (a-hem) type A tendencies.
I found myself in the midst of middle-age; in the middle of change. Changes in my sleeping patterns, changes to my energy levels and changes to my waistline.
After a lot of years burning the candle at both ends and feeding my need for constant control, life was taking its toll on me. My breaking point came when I realized my constant worry and need for control was creating upset for the people I loved the most. There is a saying “if Momma isn’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”, well nobody was happy, and I knew I needed to make a change.
I SLOWED DOWN, I BECAME MINDFUL, I GOT STRONG, FOCUSED, and ENERGIZED. It was simple.
On my journey to self-care, I learned a few things…
So what did I do? I took a step back, took a few deep breaths and stock of how I was living. I comitted to tending to myself by journaling, and by the mindful practices of Yoga, Pilates and Meditation. I switched the energy I was wasting on worrying into energy for awareness of self-care.

On my journey to self-care, I learned a few things…
- Life is too short, and I needed to take care of myself Body, Mind & Spirit.
- I needed to slow down a little bit and put myself first on the list.
- By taking care of myself I felt better, I looked better, my life improved.
So what did I do? I took a step back, took a few deep breaths and stock of how I was living. I comitted to tending to myself by journaling, and by the mindful practices of Yoga, Pilates and Meditation. I switched the energy I was wasting on worrying into energy for awareness of self-care.
Truly Aligning Inside and Out with Pilates & Yoga
With close to 30 years of teaching human movement (registered with Yoga Alliance as well as certified through Stott Pilates® and training in classical Pilates,) I took my knowledge of Pilates & Yoga and started to walk the walk. I moved safely through proper alignment with awareness for my muscle imbalances (I’m an Anatomy Junkie); opening where I needed to open and strengthening where I needed to strengthen.
In a matter of weeks my sleeping improved. I began looking forward to my mat. My focus was sharper. Best of all my relationships became more authentic. All through truly aligning. Life was right.
